All of his work is conceived in the form of a giant rhizome, or underground stem, with each work functioning as an evolving transitionary branch. In 1997, he represented France at the Venice Biennale, and the country’s pavilion was awarded a Golden Lion. Flammarion published a monograph on the artist in 2009.
