Christoph Fink was born in Ghent in 1963. He has shown internationally at a number of galleries including Witte de With in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the Venice Biennale in Italy, and The Drawing Center in New York. He currently resides in Ghent and Brussels.

Tonight after all those quiet hot and muggy days,
at 2 o’clock in the morning the wind is rising. The sky is closing shut and
a terrible wind is blowing through the open windows. It also starts
to rain. It probably got a lot worse, but
I was sleeping like a log. Maybe the first deep
night-sleep of this summer. At 9am awake for the first time.
Closing some windows. Heavy grey, the wind keeps
blowing. It even remains chilly. The first feeling
of autumn. That’s how we experience it. By midday,
the sky is opening up. A lot of wind, cloud ships,
blue.

Clear day, clear mind                                    about 12°C
Clear blue sky, foaming aeroplane lines
mostly medium lines.
Now and then a wider fan.(nice after all these grey days)
Woke up with a deep breathing.
Nice feeling of fully ventilated lungs.

Wild morning, crazy weather, rain, grey, grey, it
looks like an autumn storm. Lead sky. The rain is
blown through the slightly ajar window into the bed.
Little drops.
At 9 p.m. a heavy cloud burst. Water, water,
water. Lightening strikes, just behind the workshop.
A piercing crack. The fire of hell. After the shower
I ride back up (rue d’irlande). Almost hit
by a small car which is rushing through the street
at full speed.
The clouds are breathtakingly white in the dark.
The end of the thundercloud. Wonderful… this
clear blue, dark of night. Rained out.

Clarity in the sky.
Torn up shreds of clouds, close to the
steaming earth surface. What a view.
