He found fame in the late 1960s with his wall drawings and sculptures, but was prolific in a wide range of media including drawing, printmaking, photography, and painting. His work is part of public collections from around the world, including the Tate Modern in London, Guggenheim Museum and Museum of Modern Art in New York, Dia:Beacon and  the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington DC.
