He was educated at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas and the Circulo de Bellas Artes. He has shown at the Tate Modern Gallery in London, Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and Kunsthalle Zürich in Switzerland. He now divides his time between New York, Paris, and Mexico City, and is represented by Marian Goodman Gallery in New York, Galerie Chantal Crousel in Paris, and Galeria Kurimanzutto in Mexico City.
