He became involved in the West Coast Jazz scene and the Beat Movement and his work in a furniture factory led to his creation of sculptures. He created “Verifax Collages” and created a mail art publication, Semina. Berman’s work has been shown in the Ludwig Museum, Centre Pompidou, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He died suddenly in 1976.
