Nina Simone
Nina Simone was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist born in 1933 in North Carolina. Despite the financial hardships of life for her family in the south, Simone took an early interest in music, taking piano lessons from the age of three. She attended Juilliard School of Music. Simone's style was often classed as having influences from gospel, pop, and classical music. She passed away in 2003.
