Alejandro Amenábar
Alejandro Amenábar was born in Santiago, Chile in 1972; his family immigrated to Spain one year after his birth. At the age of 19, Amenábar released his first short, The Head, marking the beginning of his creative collaboration with Mateo Gil. After a successful English adaptation of his film Open Your Eyes by Tom Cruise, Amenábar passed along the screenplay for his third movie, The Others to Cruise. This resulted in a successful English version starring Cruise and Nicole Kidman in 2001. The Others is Amenábar's most personal approach to the old horror classic films. His other films include The Sea Inside, Thesis, and Agora. He is known for writing, directing, and composing for his own films.
