Sir John Tavener
John Tavener was born in London on January 28, 1944. He is best known for his religious, minimal works, such as "The Whale" and "Funeral Ikos". Following the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, he performed "Song for Athene" at her funeral and composed "Eternity's Sunrise" in her memory. He was knighted in 2000 and received an Ivor Novello Award in 2005.
