Made in Russia
Made in Russia: Unsung Icons of Soviet Design presents a survey of fifty examples of Soviet era industrial and graphic design. These designs are under-explored yet have had a lasting influence on the objects and aesthetics of Russian life and thought. Ranging from technological advances such as Sputnik, to cultural innovations like fishnet shopping bags and Cold War era arcade games, this collection explores the provenance of these objects in Soviet culture and the unique climate for design from which they emerged.
Made in Russia: Unsung Icons of Soviet Design was published by Rizzoli New York in April 2011. It was edited by Michael Idov, a native Russian and contributing editor at New York Magazine.
