He has taught architecture at the Architectural Association in London, Princeton University, and Cooper Union in New York. He was dean of the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University from 1988 to 2003 and is currently a professor in the Graduate School of Architecture.

Architecture Concepts: Red is Not a Color, written by Bernard Tschumi was published by Rizzoli New York in October 2012. It is the first comprehensive treatment of his architecture. Part monograph, part architectural theory, and part story, the book narrates a three-decade journey through a perusal history of architecture and architectural ideas, mixing theory, practice, and hypothetical projects with forty built works.
