His work is often shown through performances, digital artifacts, and virtual environments. By designing systems for the creation, manipulation, and performance of simultaneous image and sound, his work explores the formal language of interactivity and the nonverbal communications protocols in cybernetic systems. The interactions of people with each other and with machines are highlighted in his work. Levin has exhibited internationally at locations such as the Whiteney Biennial, the Kitchen NYC, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, and the ZKM in Karlsruhe, Germany. He is currently Associate Professor of Electronic Art at Carnegie Mellon University.
