In 1956, Ruscha moved to Los Angeles and attended Chouinard Art Institute (now CalArts), studying painting, photography, and graphic design. His work is characterized by a keen observance of American popular culture and a deadpan and profound inclusion of text. Ruscha’s work is in museums and private collections worldwide. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
