Mark Morrisroe

Mark Morrisroe was an American performance artist and photographer born to a drug addicted mother in 1959. Morrisroe left home at the age of 15 and lived a difficult life as a teenage prostitute before attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His past experience had a profound influence on the subject matter and style of his later work. His photography career began when he was given a Polaroid Model 195 which he used to experiment and develop unusual techniques. He created over 2000 pieces of work before his death in 1989.
