Uta Barth

Uta Barth is known for her "empty" images that capture light in a painterly and abstract way. She was born in Berlin in 1958 and received her both her BA and MFA from the University of California. Her photographs have been exhibited worldwide and are included in many private and public collections, such as the Whiney Museum of American Art, MoMA NY, the Tate Modern, The Getty Museum, and The Walker Art Center. She currently lives in California and serves as Professor Emeritus in the Department of Art and the University of California and is a graduate faculty member at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She is represented by Tanya Bonakdar Gallery in New York City.
