COMPOSER ADAM PETERS TALKS ABOUT HIS MIXTAPE FOR GRIESSHAMMER’S EDITION
Being a composer can be a solitary affair conducted late at night in dark rooms surrounded by computer screens. These days I no longer listen to music as a form of psychedelic exploration, but as something solid that can be with me through parts of the day and change my mood. During a long studio stint if I need a change of direction I find that half an hour of northern soul or a bout of Ukrainian dance music will leave me smiling again. Each morning my 4 year old son wants to play music loud and dance. It reminds me of how I was when I was little and everything was new and fresh. So these days I find myself listening to Abba or The Fall or The Beatles with my breakfast… That kind of European music that has a peculiar uplifting melancholy to it. It seems to run in the family.
Melissa asked me to make a playlist. I decided just to send exactly the music that I’ve listened to in the last week or so.
